E. Bradford Burns, Professor of History - Harvey L. Eby Award for the “Art of Teaching”

1987 Distinguished Teaching Award

A master teacher, E. Bradford Burns demonstrates an uncommon ability to interest and instruct students in the history of Latin America, whether in his lower division, upper division or graduate classes. He is not only a talented orator with a special ability to fascinate lecture audiences, he also performs brilliantly in seminars with small groups of students. Burns’ reputation for teaching excellence extends beyond the campus. His writings on Latin American history have given him a justifiable national and international reputation as a leading teacher of the subject. He has set a standard for distinguished teaching that all members of the faculty could seek to emulate.

In designated Burns the recipient of the Harvey L. Eby Award for the “Art of Teaching,” we honor an exceptionally gift and dedicated teacher.
